You may have heard from your children about our exciting new house system. The sorting hat has been busy sorting all of our pupils into one of the four houses: Ash (blue house), Oak (green house), Chestnut (yellow house) and Maple (red house). The children will each be getting a house badge to wear and teachers and staff have begun to distribute points. Children will gain points for a variety of reasons including; being polite and displaying good manners, demonstrating a caring attitude towards peers, being helpful and putting in extra effort within their learning and many more. The winning house at the end of each term will be rewarded with a treat and the overall winning house for the year will receive a special treat and have its name engraved on the house shield.
Primary 7’s each year will have the chance to become House Captains and Vice Captains. They will take on the role of leading their house, being positive role models for their peers, and encouraging them to work together to earn points.
This system aims to encourage a real sense of pride and achievement for all children and fosters community spirit. It also allows both pupils and teachers time to form positive relationships with others throughout the school.
We are looking forward to developing our house system this year and hope that it will become a central element within Woodside Primary.
